The aim of a literacy course is to acquire German language skills at the level of elementary language use. This usually takes place up to level B1.

The duration of the course depends on the previous knowledge of the participants. The course comprises a maximum of 900 teaching units. Following the language course, you will attend the orientation course with 100 teaching units

Structure and objectives of an integration course with literacy training

The literacy course consists of a basic course (basic alpha course), the advanced course A (advanced alpha course A) and the advanced course B (advanced alpha course B), each with 300 teaching units. The aim is to successfully pass the German Test for Immigrants (DTZ), which covers the European language levels A2 and B1, and the “Living in Germany” test at the end of the language course.

Literacy is the most important goal of a literacy course. The course endeavours to come as close as possible to this goal. Participants are also encouraged to learn content independently and to combine what they have learnt with new content. In addition, social, societal and cultural content is also taught so that participants can participate in society as quickly as possible.

Promotion

Foreigners who receive unemployment benefit II or social welfare do not have to pay any fees for the course. Late repatriates and their spouses and children also do not have to pay any fees. All participants who do not fall into these categories pay a personal contribution.

If you already have a German ID card and the BAMF is therefore not funding the integration course with literacy training, you may be able to receive funding from the employment agency or job centre. We will be happy to advise you on site.

Registration

Before enrolment, a placement test is mandatory, which, if not already available, will be carried out at our premises. After the language placement test, we will endeavour to offer you a suitable course as soon as possible. Do you already have previous knowledge? Then you can also join our current courses at the start of a new module. If you are interested, please drop by during our opening hours!
